OPPLE marked its entrance into the Indian LED market with the opening of an experience store in Chennai.
As part of its plan to invest heavily in its India operations, OPPLE will build up its brand presence and awareness through increased marketing and product availability initiatives. The company plans to set up 50 dedicated outlet stores as well as distribute its products in nearly 400 retail shops over the next three years.
OPPLE India Chairman S. Venkataramani discussed OPPLE’s expected earnings in the region, “We are targeting a turnover of around $75 million USD from the Indian market in the next three years, out of which we expect a 40% share to come from Southern India.”
The experience stores will provide special consulting services for lighting design solutions. OPPLE experts will help consumers understand and implement the best lighting solutions for a given space. Since India is still on the cusp of the transition from CFL to LED, it is an ideal market for OPPLE to establish itself in.
